Insurance coverage when selling a yacht
When selling the yacht, the insurance always transfers to the purchaser, as is legally stipulated. This is intended to protect the purchaser in case they have not yet taken out insurance. You can avoid this by including a clear provision in the purchase agreement or the handover protocol (signed by both parties) stating that the insurance policies under your name shall expire on the day of transfer. Otherwise, we would have to contact the purchaser and give notice of the termination of your contract with a one-month notice period. For this, we definitely need the name and address of the purchaser. If you have concerns regarding data protection, we can assure you that according to prevailing legal opinion, data protection is subordinate to the idea of insurance protection.
